Thank you for your great video. There are not thrift or Godwill strores in Argentina. You are lucky there. I am an old man and serviced many valvular and first transistors electronics in the 50´s. Cheers from Patagonia, Argentina.

Thank you. Fixed a Sony SLV-N81 with your and other's videos. My mode switch was on the main board and the white part popped off without too much trouble There was a little silicone grease inside, which is likely used to prevent oxidation. I cleaned it out with a spray can of freon from the 1980's (sorry Mr. Ozone). I did not put grease back in. I put a little squirt of Cramolin B-5 (also from the 80's) on the contacts. Put things back together and accidentally touched the head while doing so. As I touched it, it abruptly moved, meaning it was stuck. I think that was the problem. Because the VCR is seldom used, the head will develop some "stiction" and the motor that drives it cannot overcome the stick and throws errors. If your VCR is seldom used, take the cover off and gently move the head to ensure it spins freely.

Thank you for showing me how to get at the mode switch and clean it. Unfortunately, she still has an appetite for tape.
