UPDATE 2/10/2026: This is my most popular video and gets a good amount of views consistently each month, so I've added a fundraiser. Please consider donating to the National Immigration Law Center to advocate for the rights of immigrants. https://www.nilc.org/

The thing i (at 26) do not understand, is why so many youtubers are fighting and scratching to get to TV, when it's less relevant and hard to access than ever?

Netflix has been filming Trixie and Katya sitting on a couch reacting to their shows for years now and continue to get millions of views. It’s not the fancy sets or the production value it’s the people and the chemistry between them that keeps people coming back. Kinda crazy that even a massive corporation like Netflix seems to understand that whereas a small company like Watcher doesn’t.

It still baffles me that they claimed they didn’t have enough money when they had a Patreon, merch, sponsorships on every video, multiple sponsors on the podcast eps, hundreds of thousands of views per episode

I just couldn’t watch them after that video, it soured the whole channel

They will literally fire the people who have been with them for years, one of which created one of their most popular series, before giving up Steven Lim eating a thousand dollar hotdog every week.

I love how fans advised Watcher to downsize their staff and they instead FIRED THEIR ENTIRE TEAM.

I'm still obsessed with the bizarre choices of Goodbye YouTube. Overproducing your video explaining you're putting everything you've ever made behind a paywall because it's just too expensive to make uwu is the funniest shit in the world to me. It's so magical. All that camerwork, lighting, scripting, editing... for a message that pissed everybody off. Genuinely crests absurdity and sails right into life creating art.

I'm one of those people who quit watching after the whole goodbye youtube thing because it just totally ruined my perception of them, now seeing that they're using ai in their video's I don't regret that decision at all. Super disappointing

Edit: THEY FIRED KATIE?? That's so messed up, her and those poor production crew members

Firing thier trusted employees to move to freelancers just means that the quality is going to inconsistent. They should have relocated, cut some shows, and moved on to minimalist sets rather than letting go the people that make their show. These are very poor financial decisions and it’s killing them.

My favorite part of eatcher was watching them do a normal lets play, and then credits would roll that showed they had like 15 people working on that video for no fucking reason at all

Relying more on freelancer also means not having to pay them benefices like insurances...
