We didn't need warning labels to tell us that fire can burn, boiling oil was hot or that knife blades were sharp.

LOL not only have I owned many of these gadgets but they are still in use today! Electric knife, crockpot, hot air corn popper, electric wok, warming tray and my much loved cookie press just to give you an idea. How some of these could fall under items that made no sense baffles me.

One aspect of many of these devices that was stated to show how horrific they were was that they were used.....AROUND CHILDREN. Yes, they were.  But imagine this - in the 70's if a kid was told to avoid a device because they could get severely burnt / lose a finger / etc., he or she would usually have the attention span to listen and the intelligence to leave it alone!

I still use a crockpot. I’ve never had any problems with it. It’s updated has a removable crop, but I still use it. A lot of of these little gadgets have been updated that I use.

After the avocado and harvest gold trend, there had been the almond color trend, a color somewhere between white and beige.

My Sister-in-law was the only person that I knew for decades that used a Cookie press, and made perfect cookies with it every year. This was in the late 90s long after the initial trend. However she used it regularly, and I remember when she was excited after she got a new cookie press and it was not cheap at around $100.00 in the late 90s. The hot air popcorn maker is one appliance we use regularly in my home. The real reason is I'm cheap. It makes popcorn in same time as a microwave, but the cost of a bag of popcorn kernels compared to microwave popcorn is a giant difference. The bag of kernels makes dramatically more for a fraction of the price, and it is really the same amount of time.

Let’s be clear before people freak out, Dan Ankroyd did not use a live fish. It was a real fish but it was dead.

The crockpot is still going strong today. You can come home from work to great smells of dinner for pennies worth of electricity and it tasted better than I could make.💖

I learned to use a cookie press from my mom back in the 60s and I taught my kids in the 80s and 90s. There is an art to it.
