I really like how Team Rocket was handled this saga. They were consistently fun to watch for the first time since DP. On top of that, there was a greater focus on the personalities of their pokemon. Seeing them complete in the league was also pretty cool.

Alola is like Ash's second home and with the league win, it's even more significant in his career as a trainer

The fact that this isn't a travel series made it so the side characters showing up during the league feels more impactful.

Imma just say Kukui is the father Ash never had and that is why I love Aloha so much lol.

Is everyone ignoring the fact that Ash's mom/Delia battled with Litten

Personally, I think Sun and Moon has some of the best episodes. Like Litten's past and Kukui's wedding.

Watching the Sun and Moon anime felt like you were actually with Ash on vacation. The art style got very weird at times but I love how the game and anime deviated from the norm and both really worked. The characters are actually really fleshed out, especially Lillie and her family.

I was a Sun and Moon hater too. I never gave it a chance, because of the art style. I watched it about a year ago, and ill say this. I teared up more during Sun and Moon then i have for any other series.
