How often do YOU train each muscle — once, twice, or 3+ times per week?

You should have Nash Jocic on to talk about this . He advocates 1 muscle group, 1 once per week. Part of the reasoning is that tendons and ligaments take a week to recover so it’s especially important if you are older

The best split is the one that you can sustain. It's going to be different for everyone.

1. Consistency
2. Progressive overload
3. Adequate rest & recovery (different for everyone)

If you're doing that, the actual split isn't that important.

My muscles and joints take a week and half to 2 weeks to fully recover where all my pains are gone

Training smart is being aware of how your body feels during the workout and delaying (splitting) certain lifts until you have sufficient recovery.

I do whatever and however I want. That way I don’t dread anything. That feeling of dread makes me not want to do it and so I don’t.

I found the perfect 3-split, which hits every muscle both directly and indirectly:

Day 1: Chest and shoulders
Day 2: Back, triceps, and abs
Day 3: Legs and biceps

Although this split also allows for high frequency, I usually have plenty of rest days between each workout. This is also because I want to be fully motivated and focused on each workout to get the maximum input and results. Since you're only growing when you're resting and eating anyway, it's much more important to have more rest days than fewer before each workout. I've literally gone 2 years without any weight lifting at all and have still been able to keep most of my muscle mass with just cardio and dieting. That's the beauty of being a natural bodybuilder: long-term muscle memory.

i have been working out going on 6 decades..i can tell you as you age things do change and you should always be aware of your recovery..i over trained for decades. i now just started doing 3 day per week resistance training only..i feel amazing for 67 6' 240lbs currently..on off days i do some easy cardo, calisthenics etc..one day per week i do almost nothing..the key is to match your recovery ability to your training..over training at 67 is very easy..but for best gains you need to find or get as close as you can to your sweet spot, plain and simple..😊

Abs and shoulders can take more frequency without a doubt. But not everyone has an unlimited amount of time.
