One from 1958 that is overlooked is "Terror from the year 5000" involving what starts out as getting objectsd from the past, but turns ino getting things from the future. I remember one scene where they radio carbon date an object, but it returns a negative value!

Eve of Destruction, 1991, should have been included. It's a fantastic film that has been overlooked for far to long.

the most unlikely frienship move in sci fi for me, is from Disttict 9. When the protagonist, a man who was charged with removing contraband from aliens stuck on Earth and restricted to what was called District 9, becomes infected and must work with one of the aliens to try and secure an antedote.

Herb (John) Varley's "Millennium" with Kris Kristofferson, Cheryl Ladd, Daniel J. Travanti, Robert Joy, Maury Chaikin -- a time travel story that is not what you expect! Directed by Michael Anderson, 1989.
