As a 4x combat vet, I'll agree with you that most of the time I used my knife for utility purposes. Where I disagree with you though, is the notion of the "combat knife" being an all-in-one solution. Everyone I know carried a separate pocket knife and usually a multi-tool, so the advantages of the a lighter/slicy package aren't worth it. SRK was my go-to for years. Thanks for the thought provoking discussion.

The Kobun is basically like a Glock 26 or a Glock 43X, it’ll always be there, highly concealable & highly dependable.

When I was in the Army I carried a swiss army knife only. It has 2 blades, a screw driver and a can opener. It sufficed for all my needs. Some guys had kbars, some had Buck hunting knives. It was all preference. We were mounted infantry (horseback) so weight and space was at a premium. My combat weapon was my rifle, an R4 (Galil) and my knife was a utility tool to cut baling twine, open rat packs etc. the swiss army knife was perfect for my requirements.
I now have a huge collection of knives, for camping, work around the farm etc. but 99% of my knives are completely overbuilt for what I use them for.
My most used fixed blade is a Cold Steel Roach Belly, because I use it in the kitchen. My most used EDC folder is a Cold Steel American Lawman. But my swiss army knife has a special place in my heart

Bro u mentioned me in your video!🤣 lets gooo. I worked in Anti poaching in South Africa, botswana, zimbabwe and the Republic of congo. When i was up in Congo the Kobun checked all my boxes, sleek carry profile under a shirt with cargo pants for running around Brazza. Can do food prep easily and if need be can cause serious damage. The handle is gold for me. Carried it along side an AK when out on patrol. Thanks for the videos! Dope

The Kobun is awesome, it's thin profile, blade is long enough, it's tough. It doesn't cost much. An Excellent choice.

Agree 100% A really good knife for real world use.
The ease of sharpening this knife is more important over time imho than ultimate edge holding ability. You take it out, use it, and put it away. Sharpen it later, etc.
I don't know anyone cutting stuff in actual use like you do in cutting tests. The tests are valuable, but honestly don't reflect real/field use imho. I suppose game processing knives would be different, but that's a different category.

Besides all else, Kobun is my kitchen knife, it cuts and slices so precisely that I actively use it for food preparation .
I like it so much that I think I'm gonna get another one just in case if it gets discontinued.
