It wasn't a "Netflix Original" it was originally commissioned and shown on Channel 4 in the UK. I'm guessing they slapped "Netflix Original" for international distribution.

Actually the Final episode wasn't made because "people didn't like the original". It aired the day after the original "final episode" and was kind of a fun surprise epilogue to wrap things up with.

Fun fact in the 70s there was a boy who went to an all girls school in Derry. It was a protestant school though, not a catholic one. But I'm sure the writer heard about it growing up.

Clare’s actress did Derry Girls series three and Bridgerton at the same time, she’s not in scenes in Derry Girls with the others sometimes

Just stumbled across this video and I must say I love the whole style of it. This combination of basically a reaction video with all you drawings is something I haven't seen anywhere before and it's very endearing :)

It is worth watching the original audio for the season 1 finale. Keep an eye on what Orla does on her own!

I was working as a call centre drone for Sky at the time this aired. It's a Channel 4 show, not Sky. I was Team Clair from the start. He introduction with "I'm not being an individual on my own" set the tone for me; this is going to be a smart show. Already there's a Monty Python reference. I was telling everyone. I can't have been the only one, because by the time the second episode aired a week later, it was already recommissioned for a second series. This is an ensemble cast. It's the blends between the girls that works for me. I've always been Team Clair. I'm thrilled for Nicola's success this has given her the opportunity to create for herself. They're all good people.
