Broken heart syndrome has to be the most beautiful and horrific sickness I think I’ve ever heard. The fact that you can love someone so much your heart stops is unreal.

My uncle passed in Dec of cancer. When my aunt came home for the first time from planning his funeral, she died in the driveway. She always said she never wanted to live without him. She made it less than 8 hours ❤

That second story got me. My father died of broken heart syndrome the day after my mum passed away. Sadly, my dad had his episode in the night so none of us knew it was happening and we just found him early the next morning. After 52 years together, I think he just didn’t want to be here without her.

My ex’s parents died within 15 minutes of one another.  They shared a room in an assisted living or nursing home (I don’t remember which), and his mother passed.  He leaned down to his comatose father and said “Mom has gone to be with the angels.  It’s okay if you want to go and be with her”.  He died 15 minutes later. This was written about in the local paper in Wisconsin where they lived.

Man I wasn't ready for the stories. Gonna buy some flowers for my wife after work today and let her know how lucky I am to have her.

wow, that first one has to be one of the most heartbreaking stories I've ever heard. Can't help but feel bad for this guy and his poor wife who lost her life.

Usually your stories don’t affect me emotionally, but hearing that the last line of “It’s my duty to be here for them” really pulled at my heart strings. I hope she never doubts the fact that shes a great mom.

This happened to my in-laws. My mother-in-law succumbed to cancer a few weeks before Christmas 1985 and then my father-in-law passed away less than a week later from a heart attack. I still remember how it all played out and everything. It all brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it all, almost 40 years later...

Man, humans and their bodies are so fascinating! The fact that losing a loved one can literally make your heart just refuse to work because of grief alone is insane to me. Kinda gives me hope remembering that humans aren't only capable of all-consuming hate, but of all-consuming love too.

I’ve heard of Broken Heart Syndrome before but I don’t think I’ve heard of how bad it really was. Stress can apparently do a lot of damage, not just mentally but physically.

Lauren's story brought tears to my eyes.  My Grandmother died two months after my Grandfather.  Her heart broke, losing the love of her life after 65 years of being together.

Something very similar happened with my mom, she was critically ill, so the doctors were letting us go in to the ICU two at a time to say goodbye to her. When I got to her bedside, I started cheering her on come on mom you can make it fight it don’t go you have a grand child on the way, I love you so much I need you, etc. etc. etc. which was all true. They kept her in a medically induced coma for 14 days while they treated her, I will go see her on my way to work, on my lunch break, after work, and then late in the evening. One day I got there in the morning to see her and she said hello as if nothing had happened. She still spent three more weeks in the hospital. She said she was dying falling into a dark hole and she reached out and I grabbed her hand and pulled her back up. I literally grabbed her hand when I got by her bedside and started cheering her on and urging her to fight and don’t give up. Her doctor referred to my mom as his miracle for several years until he retired. True story hundred percent. Just like her children saved her. I saved my mom.
