The real horror is being in a relationship like this.

The main morale of this short film is that addiction to social media makes everyone like a zombie and it spreads like hell!

I think the ending was fitting, they were all horrible people.

People complaining that she would have felt the bug despite the movie going out of its way to make it clear that the bug was messing with her perception and only others could notice the effects it had on her is why we need media literacy classes....

My new favorite horror genre, horror against "influencers".

The monster/bug on her neck is her demise: caring so much what people think. To let that bug go, is to stop caring what people think. To be one’s authentic self, stop caring what people think of you! Just be yourself! That bug spread to everyone else bc they were toxic also. Stop caring what people think. Just shine.

Ok... Am I the only one reading more into the message here?
I believe the parasite is representative of the way social media gets into our heads and makes us act like complete monsters, people unlike our authentic selves, just so someone we don't even know will like us (pictures/posts). (?)
All she cared about was the way she presented on social media which ultimately consumed her.. and everyone else in that room is headed for that same destiny... The "egg" hatching new parasites.

 Theory time:

I think the reason she didn’t notice the creature growing on the nape of her neck is because the creature begins to numb a host’s mind to it’s presence while also making sure the host conceals it the best they can.

Also, this film is definitely meant to be a metaphor for both how social media can end up causing us to hurt ourselves if we end up getting so badly obsessed that it governs our lives
