🧭 Purpose and nature of this video
This video is educational, informational, documentary, and analytical in nature. Its purpose is to explain the operational and economic factors that influence farm-equipment decisions, show why purchase price is not the same as total ownership cost, and help viewers ask better questions before buying, repairing, financing, or changing machinery brands.
It is not an advertisement for John Deere or any competing manufacturer, a request to buy or boycott a brand, or financial, legal, technical, or investment advice. Hypothetical calculations are included only to demonstrate a comparison method; they are not actual dealer quotations or promises of savings. Repair costs, downtime, financing, resale value, and equipment performance vary by model, location, condition, contract, dealer, and farm.
🌾 Why would a frustrated farmer buy another green tractor?
A farmer can be angry about repair access, technology costs, or changing ownership terms and still conclude that another John Deere is the most workable choice for the coming season. That decision may involve a trusted local technician, parts availability, the cost of downtime, compatibility with implements and data workflows, crew familiarity, financing, trade value, and the depth of the regional used-equipment market.
This episode examines why criticism and repeat purchasing can exist on the same balance sheet. It also considers older equipment, mixed fleets, gradual brand switching, ISOBUS compatibility, connected support tools, renewable licenses for particular precision features, and the difference between staying because a complete package still works and staying because testing an alternative feels difficult.
The video does not claim that all farmers have the same experience, that every Deere dealer provides the same service, or that every John Deere tractor requires a subscription for basic operation. Competing brands can develop the same advantages through strong local support, familiar controls, reliable service, and demonstrated compatibility.
📚 Sources, legal context, and corrections
The discussion draws on publicly available material from regulators, manufacturers, industry organizations, company reports, and agricultural sources available during production. References to the right-to-repair litigation reflect the allegations and public positions of the parties, not an independent finding of wrongdoing by this channel. Deere disputed the allegations and entered a settlement without admitting a violation of law. Legal requirements, repair-resource access, software terms, and product offerings can change, so viewers should consult current official sources before making decisions.
Company names, product names, and trademarks are used only for identification, commentary, and historical or technical discussion. This channel is not affiliated with Deere & Company, its dealers, or its competitors. The video is not sponsored and does not speak on behalf of any organization mentioned. Individual experiences should not be generalized to every farmer, employee, dealership, or region. Some footage may be illustrative and may show comparable equipment or typical situations rather than the exact machine being discussed.
🛠️ A demanding production process
This is an original production created through extensive research and several stages of manual editing. Public materials on agricultural machinery, dealer support, repair access, ISOBUS compatibility, financing, and resale were reviewed before the script was written and revised. The English narration was then recorded and processed, visual material was selected, and each chapter was assembled around the argument.
The final edit required careful synchronization of narration and imagery, work with archival and illustrative footage, graphics, transitions, music, sound accents, color, and pacing. The episode was repeatedly reviewed and rebuilt so that complex technical and economic issues would remain understandable. It is not an automated compilation or a simple re-upload of someone else's material.
🗣️ If you stayed with John Deere after seriously comparing another brand, what truly decided it: the dealer, support, compatibility, trade offer, crew familiarity, or something else? If you switched, what made the transition manageable? Please discuss real experiences without targeting or harassing farmers, employees, dealers, or owners of another brand.
