I was there that day. People were still chanting the "Valhalla" Chorus when I got to my tent, over half an hour after the end of the show and all the way until everyone got to their tents.

There is just something about 80.000 strangers singing "tomorrow will take us away, no one will ever know our names, but the bard songs will remain" that is truly magical and heartwarming. Most amazing experience of live music in my life. There has been nothing like it since!

“The Bard Song” is something like the band’s anthem, sung exclusively by fans during live concerts.

Fun fact about the song Valhala. For more than 18 years, the crowd refused to let the song end.
The crowd in Wacken just keeps singing Valhala. It has always been customary in Wacken to continue this song until everyone is singing along.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZ_VFJn2kJM&list=RDCZ_VFJn2kJM&start_radio=1

Blind Guardian is legend. Imagine you can make 80000 people sing almost your entire song live for you, just with your mere presence, voice and a pair of guitars.

These are the two must play songs they do on each live show. Otherwise the fans will not be happy. 😎
Have seem them live twice and when the whole crowed sings along it's always a magical experiance 🤘💜

I came to Guardian over 25 years ago when Imaginations from the other Side was released and have seen them over 15 times live till now and still love their songs. I am unable to do a top 50 list of their songs without having fear that I´ve forgott some songs. But this two are in the Top five. As you could imagine its not easy to choose favourites from a Band thats active since the 80´s .

Ahhhh, Hansi Kursch! One of the best male singers in metal IMO. This particular video is so emotional, from beginning to end. Blind Guardian has been around for a long time and I think you can see why. I'm so glad that you have found them. I would suggest that you listen to Ayreon, The Day That the World Breaks Down, from The Source. Hansi is one of the singers on that, as well as many other truly wonderful metal voices.
