  Had an RX-4 in High School back in 1984. I loved that car...it would hit 123 mph and back in those days FEW cars still on the road could hit those numbers. Raced it everyday

  I remember my middle school math teacher Mr Bass bought a brand new Mazda RX3 &nbsp;because he said wanted something innovative and special.In 1972 the rotory was the high tech rage at the time. We all thought that the piston engine would be gone in 10 ten years. At least for high performance cars.

  If I was a rich boy it wouldn&apos;t just be a supercar I would be buying. It would be one of these, probably one from the &apos;70s. I&apos;ve owned a Mitsubishi FTO MIvec GPX in the UK for 20 years. It&apos;s my baby when I park it on the street. All the neighbours love it. It still turns heads today from 95

  The craziest thing about this list is that many of these cars are still respected decades later. The 2000GT, 240Z, Skyline GT-R, and 3000GT VR-4 weren&apos;t just fast—they became legends. Japan really proved that innovation can beat brute force.

  I covered both the Galant GTO and Celica on Will Talk Cars in a video about foreign cars that looked surprisingly American. The Galant especially stands out to me. It really does look like Japan’s take on the muscle car formula. Great list.

  My first cat was 75 Toyota Celica GT Fastback White with rear louvers, Lt brown interior. I credit that car for getting me to 2nd base and my first home run. I loved that car. Wish I still had, Its just as sexy today as it was then.
