I bought my 3DO about 2 years after it had come out second hand while on holiday in the Isle of Wight, then found a box full of 3DO games at my local Cash Converters for £20.

I was also working in an EB Games at the time and remember them paying for a huge amount of space in the store and covering the area with standees that said "Don't Buy a Dodo, Buy 3DO". We all found it funny covering the "Don't" part in stickers :P

Anyone around for launch in 1993 knew that 3DO was never, ever going to be successful at $700.

The M2 was made, just never sold as a console. It made it into a handful of arcade cabinets, and the decendents of the hardware made it into millions of quiz machines and other embedded interactive systems.

When I was 12, I broke my 3DO light gun, and my dad told me he would find someone to fix it because he enjoyed Mad Dog McCree.
I'm thinking, "Yeah, right. No freaking way. " He got the phone book, and it turned out that American Lazer Games was 2 blocks away from his office in Albuquerque.

I went, they were all. "You actually have a 3DO???". They gave me a tour and an unreleased prototype light gun that actually allowed for 2 players.

The normal light guns couldn't be used by 2 players because of the dasy chain controller ports.

And one more thing, was surprised this console was "successful niche" in Japan back in the early 2000s, could make a video and a special magazine focusing on just those Japan-developed games.

The price was crazy for the era it launched. The Console was, and is incredible.

The 3DO concept was similar to the attempt to standardise home computers with the MSX standard. Panasonic, Sanyo and Golstar had previously made MSX computers. Manufacturers had to pay a royalty to Ascii and Microsoft but it was an open system for software. Worldwide it was not another VHS but obviously Panasonic liked the idea. The magazine you would want for MSX would be What MSX? Published in the UK November/December 1984

First video I’ve watched on your channel and thoroughly enjoyable it was too.

Football games (or indeed football its self) has never been my thing, but when I saw Fifa on the 3do, it made me really notice the 3do. The second thing I noticed was the price of the 3do, and that was my excitement for the 3do killed stone dead. As I was never going to have 3do type money back then.
