It is more appropriate to say you were registering your presence in the community when you went to see the community leader than say you went to ask for permission. It wasn't as if it was a restricted place or you were going there to do something big. Well done showing us the lives of ordinary people in hard to reach community. I hope your work will bring some such visibility to their plight.
