For me, the best way to level up my English was and still is active recal or simply translation. You take a book or any text in your native language and translate the sentences out loud one by one into the target language. If you don't know how to say something, you look it up and jot it down for later recal. For me the best way to find gaps in grammar and vocabulary. Hard work, but very effective.

    1. find why are you learning and why do you want to level up. 2. work on your weakness not just more. 3. foe reading find novel books with advanced level, highlight new words. listen to english daily. try shadowing (listen then repeat the words and phrases). think in english and talk in english with yourself. 4. write and talk higher than your level (find speaking partners. choose a topic to talk about which is not easy. when you write in your journal try to write those words you just memorized. 5, try new method of learning. 6. use some hacks like spaced repitition for vocabs. do pair training for words which kinda sound the same. 7. got o class

my main issue is that I can understand pretty much everything, but I don’t have everyday situations where I can use English in a real conversation, except when I travel to another country

There's no opportunities to speak English in my daily life. That's why I've been stuck in an intermidiate plateau for years. 😱😂

I started learning English 8 years ago, when I completed 3 years of a 6-years language course. I didn't finish it because it became too expensive for my family. In 2023, I took an online course where I really enjoyed the teachers and the content, and I dedicaded myself a lot, so I could consider myself in the B1-B2 level, since I know all the four language skills — listening, speaking, reading and writing — by watching tv series without subtitles, reading books that are not too complex and even working in a place where I need to speak and write in English with foreigners. I also started French, learning through Portuguese (my native language) and using English through videos on the internet. I know that I need to improve, I am still using basic vocabulary, and I need to read and watch videos to conquer the C1 level for the Cambridge Exam that I want in 2027 as the major goal!

So... Thank you, Veronika! I'm going to use all the tips in this video on my English learning journey!

I realized the ''Why'' I had when I started learning English is not going to work anymore, because my Motivation back then was to be able to understand all those things that I liked that were originally made in English without having to wait for the translation in Spanish, but with an intermediate level, I'm already able to do that, I can read books, watch movie, tv shows, listen to songs and more. I can see now that if I want to get that C2 level I have to change my Motivation, to get a new ''Why''

✨My New Why Statement:

I’m mastering English at a C2 level because it will give me access to high-salary global jobs, the ability to communicate naturally with high-value people, and the self-confidence to express my ideas with impact in any room, anywhere in the world.
