I’ve had great success with mlv bass traps - far outperforming porous absorbers. As long as you create a totally sealed box and use the right calculations you can achieve excellent tuned low frequency absorption.

Can you tell me why you don't provide any measurements or acoustic results when discussing builds or reviews? I am thinking of REW specifically

I’m very much looking forward to the AVAA report, as I’m seriously considering whether to purchase it.

Until you visualise sound as not something that "hits" but as pressure pulses which slide along the structures until they reach a corner where pressure then statically increases and decreases, you can't really understand bass trapping. There are no more waves travelling in the corners, but the pressure pulses are at the maximum. That's why we need sealed cavities with membranes which respond to the pressure waves... This converted pressure to molecular motion, which can be absorbed in e.g. rockwool.

I find that hanging items such as air gap insulation using heavy duty moving blankets on curtain rods and curtain clips only tames the reverberation and slap echo interference that clouds the accurate sound. It works well in some situations but as stated aren't for deadening bass.

In my Studio, I got acoustic molton and just hung it on both sides, it’s wavy with air behind. My friend who measured the room was like wtf how is this possible that your room sounds so flat!

Interesting. I did something similar to the other design mentioned, at first reflection point a sandwich off 150mm Absorber, then 9mm MDF free cover Sheet, then 75mm absorber behind, all 2400 high and slightly angled so not getting 90 degree reflection. The MDF does move so it must be taking some pressure wave energy out of the room. I've also put some boards random widths 100-300mm wide (as well as scatter faces next to them) in front of abosrbers that are behind the speaker position, my thinking is these are firstly reflectors/defusers, but also remove some pressure wave, then the absorber behind takes out some of the 1/4 wave bounce. Also have some small removable 300x600x75mm absorbers infront of a TV to break up that reflection

Yep, didn't think so.

While listening, I came up with an oddball idea though; what if you had free-hanging or fixed interspaced round rods for dispersion of mids/highs?

Free hanging would make the reflection paths pseudo-random.

Not sure what pattern might work well. A wild guess is you'd probably want at least two rows, and the rows shouldn't overlap. The distances should probably decrease logarithmically to get a "linear sounding" coverage. (which may make construction tedious/complicated)
