Living life without the option to "fake it 'tll you make it" because of an intense degree of self awareness hurts so many areas of life it's insane. Dating, socializing, getting recognition and reward at work, pursuing interests. People who get to have the cognitive bias buffers can put on a convincing show with pretty low effort, which is 80% of what matters to other people. If you can't convince yourself of your worth and ability and project that energy outward, very few will see you as worthwhile or able.

It's mostly a show, and a lot of people are really well adjusted to acting the part and responding to those who are also acting the part. It's infurating, to be honest.

If you’re sensitive to light, people understand that you HAVE to wear sunglasses because sunlight f*ckin hurts. But if you are emotionally sensitive and struggle with day to day interactions and experiences you are viewed as dramatic or just impossible to understand. As an HSP/INFJ with C-PTSD, navigating marriage and parenting has felt like trying to climb Mr. Everest without training, a team, or equipment.

As someone who is extremely hypersensitive and severe anxiety since childhood, thank you for sharing how normal people think. I genuinely didnt know this!

I’m so glad I got out of my parents house. I am extremely hypersensitive and have many disorders and phobias, including mosophobia (fear of mold) and my parents tried to “toughen me up” by intentionally leaving Tupperware of food in the back of the fridge until it was at least a third fuzzy and watch me clean it. When I would cry they would mock me and put more food in the fridge to rot until it molded and the process would start all over. Surprise, I never got over it.
Thank you for making this video, it made me feel so seen

The most frustrating thing to me as a patient is how so many doctors are aware of these hypersensitivities but instead of using that information to treat someone based on the fact they’re feeling things way more intensely and it’s disrupting their life way more than the average person… they use the hypersensitivity as a “fact” to dismiss pain and dysfunction. I’ve experienced it so many times over the decades… it’s exhausting.

As someone who was constantly called a drama queen, told my crying was alligator tears and/or manipulation to get out of trouble, and also told to shut the fk up on nights i cried myself to sleep a little too loud.... Please make more of this content. I don't understand being HSP at all and I'm wondering if this is why therapy isn't as effective as i feel it should be

This was a really interesting perspective on sensitivity. I especially liked the idea that highly sensitive people may not simply “feel more,” but actually experience certain situations more intensely. It made me wonder how much of what we call overthinking or emotionality is actually a difference in how people process information. Really thought-provoking.

I would love to see more content focused on sensitivity, I've always thought of it as "feeling things stronger" but I've never considered the genuine differences in wiring and solutions that it poses.

I'm a HSP, and It's hell. But also heaven, if you learn to love the parts of it no one will ever experience. Like the Joy I feel, is 10x anyone elses, the pleasure I feel from eating something good, the love inside my heart for other humans and animals, the sense of wonder,. excitement etc.

Ty for this video Dr K <3

Dr K, please do more content on this topic. I think this was a great intro but would love to see a deep dive. Living life as a sensitive person is, ironically, not for the faint hearted. I think we could really use some guidance. Big hug and thank you for everything you do man!
