  The fact that half of people either see Tenna as this 'innocent little baby guy' and Spamton as an abusive crook, while the other half thinks Tenna is an awful manipulative jerk and Spamton as a misunderstood guy who 'just wanted to be a big shot'. It's crazy. Like they're both bad for eachother, Tenna's urge to cling to anyone due to his abandonment issues and Spamton's clear career focused gols and need for freedom completely clash. But at the end of they day they weren't making the other suffer for fun, they just did bad things they thought were right to themselves.

  It made me so sad when people started hating on Spamton as soon as Tenna got more recognized, despite the entire fandom LOVING Spamton literally just a year ago (or I guess two years ago)… Anyways this video healed me a little <3

  A thing a lot of people seem to ignore is the fact that spamton isn&apos;t upset about the contract, Tenna is<br>Spamton was upset because he thought Tenna had abandoned him after his fall from grace, and in the newsletter scene we have Tenna saying outright saying that he would have helped Spamton if he had come to him (which Spamton couldn&apos;t) when Spamton isn&apos;t there to hear him as far as he knows <br>Tenna was aware of some kind of nebulous consequences, yes, but he&apos;s also a TV. A pre-streaming TV from when the most popular shows were made for syndication, where most anything bad to happen would either be to a minor character or be resolved by the end of the episode. He&apos;s also an absurdly powerful darkner with borderline reality warping powers so of course he&apos;d think he could fix whatever consequences Spamton might have from signing his contract, he has no idea Spamton was in a cosmic horror story and not a Saturday morning cartoon like him up until that point.<br>Also really annoyed at people taking Tenna&apos;s word at face value that he made Spamton sign the contract, like he doesn&apos;t have enough agency as a character who&apos;s always strived for freedom to make that choice himself even knowing the possible consequences.

  I definitely don&apos;t think their original dynamic would have been healthy in any way, but it&apos;s definitely more a &quot;both had issues that made them bad for each other&quot; than a &quot;one is abusive, the other is a victim&quot;.<br><br>And the thing is, we never see what actually happened between them, we only get retelling from different people who each had their own view and opinion on what went down, unreliable narrators thus. So most dynamic ideas that keep true to these guys characters could have been a dynamic that was legit a possibility.<br><br>The way I personally see their relationship is one that started of in mutual use and eventually grew into genuine care, but with two individuals who very much are not healthy for each other. I like to image Spamton dealt with anger-issues, especially when he gets &quot;babied&quot; so to speak (aka not treated as &quot;on the same level&quot; or even &quot;higher&quot; as whoever he&apos;s working with), as well as some deep insecurities about his reliance on the person who&apos;s helping him and trust issues, that stewed together with him no doubt having an ego up his ass of some sort. While Tenna likely has some serious unhealthy attachment behaviour and abandonment issues, like being over-affectionate sometimes and then incredibly distant the moment something goes wrong, also he&apos;s probably an emotional manipulator, rather he does so intentionally or not. We see this in the way he suddenly makes the conversation about the contract instead of addressing the issue that &quot;mike&quot; brought up, which in turn made &quot;Mike&quot; drop that issue all together. That&apos;s something he&apos;s definitely done before, that&apos;s a learned behaviour lol. <br><br>Also, Spamton is definitely someone who&apos;s first instinct is to push people away, while Tenna has the opposite first instinct of wanting to keep them as close as possible.<br><br>So yeah, they care about each other, but are in no way good for one another, unless they somehow manage to work through their personal issues (which i definitely see possible, though it would be hard af to do)

  as someone who definitely relates or at least enjoys tenna’s character a lot from his depiction of having abandonment issues.. yeah you’re 100% right. Both sides have their faults and character depth, and they should be held accountable for their actions while still remembering their traumas. I love spamtenna but I’m also aware that no side is truly abusive, and that for them to work it out, they’ll have to work together. not pushing either one away, and not holding one another too closely.<br>I don’t have the lore perfectly learnt yet, since I’m newer to the fandom, but I love these two idiots so much 😭

  This is honestly kinda natural? A lot of the vocal fans of this game are younger people who may not have as much experience with how nuanced people and their relationships are. Spamton showed up talking smack about Tenna, so everyone thought Tenna would be a mean person. &nbsp;But when he &nbsp;subverted that expectation by being &nbsp;a &quot;nice&quot;, sensitive fun-loving person who&apos;s still hurt over Spamton leaving him, they did a 180 and decided that Spamton must be projecting his own malicious nature.<br><br>Now that we know that Tenna&apos;s problematic behavior in Chapter 3 was not only his NORMAL behavior (ie. not just him being in a bad place) and that he knew there were risks to Spamton signing his contract people think he&apos;s 100% evil, some even think he lied about his story for sympathy.<br><br>Overall this is just classic black/white thinking that&apos;s typical of younger audiences. &nbsp;A lot of creators do portray Tenna and Spamton&apos;s past as a loving one, and I believe that&apos;s the truth because for all the complaining either of them do, neither one ever describes the other as having done anything bad to them outside of leaving them. &nbsp;They reframed each other as evil to make sense of their abandonment, but not only is every allusion to their working together a positive one, their complaint ultimately boils down to &quot;I trusted him and he left me&quot;-- from both sides! That doesn&apos;t sound like an abusive relationship to me, it sounds like an unlucky one.

  Thank you for acknowledging and spreading the word that tenna kinda sucks! <br><br>As silly as I find the goofy tv man, the amount of people who act like he could do no wrong or what hes done doesn&apos;t need to be adressed at all not only makes me genuinely upset at times but has also slowly made me lose the love I had for that crt. It feels so nice to finally see someone acknowledging that he does, in fact, have flaws actually; and he does, in fact, have to work to become a better person.

Bam. <br><br>AND ITS CRAZY CUZ WHEN THE OFFICIAL CLIP OF TENNA BEING OBVIOUSLY MANIPULATIVE AND EVEN RECOGNIZING THE CONTRACT HE GAVE SPAMTON WAS WRONG (and most of his contracts are manipulative in nature) PEOPLE WERE ACTUALLY MAD THAT TENNA WAS “SUDDENLY” A COMPLEX CHARACTER WITH FLAWS INSTEAD OF “poor me im all alone and sad my husband abandoned me and now im evil but not really cuz im just sad and misunderstood.”

  Thank you so much for this! I really dislike the whole black and white mindset that comes with characterizing toxic pairings and it seems to happen a lot with Spamtenna in both extremes. It&apos;s either TV man bad Spammail good or vice versa when in reality they were both equally flawed and troubled individuals. Not irredeemable mind you, there&apos;s room for growth for the both of them, but they both have their own problems that caused a lot of tension and bitter resentment between eachother. Tenna may be my favorite Deltarune character, but he is NOT a perfect li- ermm BIG angel. But that&apos;s why I love him and Spamton so much, cause their three dimensional writing and flaws makes them feel so human 💜❤
