When you take a well loved established character and have another character there only to repeatedly say, "move over old man" for no earned reason, you're going to be hated

The one emotion Phoebe Waller-Bridge seems to be able to express is smug self-satisfaction.  Indy got the Han Solo treatment, disrespected and dismissed to make room for strong whamman.

There isn't any "downfall". She got famous because of Fleabag, then she didn't have any project that big after.

Odd to leave out "Killing Eve" which she co-created and adapted for TV

Honestly, Hollywood needs to learn to let their old franchises (by which I mean from the 80s or older) fade away gracefully instead of trying to pass them on to younger actors. It almost never works out how they hope it will. : /

And Tomb Raider is under the final guillotine… but at this point I am not sure if it’s a mercy kill. RIP Lara you will never be forgotten 😢

She is not worth the time to be hated.  Ignoring her existence requires little work and, in the end, is a better way to deal with such people.

She's good in her lane but inadequate in stories that are out of it.

Despite me not being the real audience for Fleabag, I thought it was really good for exactly the reasons you mentioned. But nothing about it pointed to her suitability for anything that came after. Now to be fair, I always come back to the idea that you'd never think Peter Jackson could pull of LotR based on what he'd done before. But it very much looks like Phoebe is no Peter Jackson.

This reminds me of one of the main reasons I love my wife, on her plane back from Japan started watching Oppenheimer, skipped it, some john wick sequel - too violent - and then stumbled upon Dial of Destiny - and it had her enthralled for 2 and a half hours. She hadn't seen any other Indiana Jones movies - it was her first - and she loved it.  You can probably see where this is going.  I loved it too, even as my 5th. So  Phoebe Waller-Bridge lucked out, a great Indy movie, a great Starwars movie, and co-wrote a half-decent James Bond film to boot.  So rather than a "down fall" it might be better said that she peaked early.
