I actually like how in the movie, the Sentry suit is a corporate designed costume. It's how they want their big poster boy superhero to look like, so the MCU tropes actually work in a meta way.

The erasure of black panthers cape is a travesty and his cape looked so cool and I want it back.

I'll never forgive the person who decided that Thor's Love and Thunder golden eagle suit should replace the peak fur cape suit.

Does anyone else wish Thor kept his eye patch from the end of Ragnarok?

I think the bit with "crappy comic accurate costume" and the problem with it is that the writers feel like by doing this they are in on the joke. Like, they want to think all fun and games, but the issue comes that they did it so many times that joke got old. Which sucks cause I don't mind them doing that on paper, heck in Netflix verse some jabs at Luke Cage and Jessica old costumes at least feel in character for those version of the characters. Stuff like Wandavision though, they should have kept homemade suits as just the fact they are halloween costumes, but drop the "they look lame" punchline.

Hot Take: I actually don't hate Cap's suit in The Avengers. The only thing that bugs me about it is the cowl. It looks so skintight around his face and neck, which it likely was. When he's not wearing it, I'm like, "That's Cap, it's like he's jumped out of a comic". Other than that cowl, I thought it was a perfect translation.

I feel like the slight over designing on Sentry also kinda works since he’s meant to be ‘marketable’ and ‘the next big hero’ (feels like something the boys would do)

I’ll always hold the belief that the most important thing when designing a costume for a film is its texturing. If you just have plain spandex/smooth fabrics it’s gonna look like cosplay. Adding texture makes it pop. A great example is Batman’s suit in BVS, because aside from the missing trunks, it’s a classic batsuit, pulling heavy inspiration from TDKR. What makes it work is its textures, the black segments are a leathery material, while the grey looks to be a durable yet flexible woven fabric. I think it is one of the best page-to-screen suit adaptations, which is ironic considering the film’s story.
