  This is just great for anyone who loves trains and locomotives. I’ve always thought when did the engineers and designers come together to produce the modern locomotive look which hit all the marks. I see the DDA40X was it! Whoever the design team was they should definitely be in the engineering/design hall of fame.

  Retired engineer from the UP. &nbsp;I cut my teeth on all these diesel units in this video (except for the turbins) they &nbsp;were just retired when I hired out in 1976. &nbsp;We loved all the EMD (2 cycle diesel engine) units for yard, local and road service. &nbsp;I was certified on the UP6945 Centenial unit. Their overspeed was 80MPH. &nbsp;They were a high stepper but had a stiff ride compared to the smothe ride of the SD40&apos;s and 40-2. &nbsp;Those were a favorite. &nbsp;The GE U boat diesel engines (4 cycle) had high failure rates and often caught fire and you could pretty much count on &quot;bells&quot;(failure bell) not far from the yard onto the main. &nbsp;The U50&apos;s were double trouble on a single frame and they had a short service life. &nbsp;Real junkers. The joke around the locomotive shops were &quot;GE can&apos;t make decent light bulbs let alone try to make locomotives.&quot; &nbsp;Sadly when the EMD SD50 showed up, well that was the turning point to EMD&apos;s downfall and leaving La Grange, Ill. for Canada. In the 90&apos;s GE began to get its act together and started to become the power of choice for the main line.

  That&apos;s so frickin awesome David. I watched this video on my TV and realized the extent and depth of your layout. Man you have come along ways. I&apos;m utilizing everything. Sifting my own dirt and getting ready to go big. I&apos;ve accumulated allot.you have helped me not overthink it and just flow through it. Imagination can do allot

  I like the caboose on the end of the freight train Long ago the caboose was one of my favorite things about the freight train I miss the caboose and a freight train just is n t a train without a caboose

  Nice as I like it! Hardly any horns added in as others do, they&apos;ll dub in a crossing sequence warning when their clearly isn&apos;t one in sight! Woulda been cool if there was a shot of the DD40 with the air raid siren on the roof!
