Duromax Generator: Why Won't It Stay Running?

Hi everyone, I was having the same issue with my new Duromax XP9500IH. But instead of messing with bypassing the sensor, because it's a real pain to get at, I simply extended the exhaust out past the back panel and pointed it upwards. I used two SS 3/4" NPT male/female fittings about 2" long. The first fitting, after the smallest amount of filing, would screw directly into the exhaust flange on the generator. That way I can still use my cover when not using the generator. I used high temp JB Weld to attach a 90* curved piece of pipe into the second fitting and then just screwed it into the first. The generator has run for hours with no problems. Because I'm still under warranty for five years, I didn't want to jeopardize it by cutting wires. Plus, I'm not an electrician and would probably short out my entire generator if I tried the bypass method. Hope this alternative method helps.

Same issue but I think I had old gas in it. I added about 6 gallons…went through a couple “shut offs and waits”. Then it ran fine.

Year later lm watching this video, same problem but smaller generator. I got DuroMax XP2300iH 2,300-Watt Dual Fuel, and it does same thing - runs for 30 sec and shots off. Tool it to repair shop, they cleaned carburator but that's about it, problem not fixed.

Great video, did what you showed. L1 & L2 both showed 20M ohm. Does that mean my generator junk?

Good diag Robby . I don't know if you watch James Condon or not but he is the generator guru lol. What the heck did you do to your hand ? It looks like a burn to me . Yikes!! Take care my friend and catch you on your next video.

Our generator will run for a few hours then we plug something up it sputters and shuts off.
