A TRAGÉDIA da Economia Brasileira: AS RAÍZES

🧠 Learn to invest with me in Brazil and around the world: https://auvp.net/?id=RaizesdaTragedia Brazil is the country of the future, but why does that future never arrive? In this episode of the AUVP Doc series, Antônio Boco delves into the origins of the Brazilian economy to reveal the deep roots that shaped a system marked by bureaucracy, privilege, and stagnation. Essential content for anyone seeking to understand the Brazilian economy, economic history, and its impact on current investments. The analysis begins with the concept of the "Cordial Man," by Sérgio Buarque de Holanda, showing how a culture based on personal relationships rather than impersonal rules helped to create an inefficient economic environment. This characteristic still influences economic decisions, institutions, and the Brazilian financial market itself. Colonization, extractivism, and the exploitation model are presented as the first major structural error. Brazil was born as a territory geared towards extracting wealth for export, without internal development. This model explains, in part, why the country has never consolidated a solid and sustainable economic base. Patrimonialism, an overblown state, and crony capitalism emerge as direct consequences of this past. Raymundo Faoro's work helps to understand how the Brazilian state was structured to benefit an elite close to power, creating barriers to economic growth and hindering entrepreneurship. Slavery and its economic effects are also analyzed from a little-explored perspective: the direct impact on innovation, productivity, and the formation of a consumer market. This model delayed technological development and left deep marks on the country's economic mentality. From mining to the emergence of the financial system, including the creation of Banco do Brasil and the first stock exchange, the episode shows how the state has always been at the center of the economy, often as an agent that extracts value, not one that creates it. If you want to understand why investing in Brazil requires more strategy than in other countries, this episode is a must-see starting point.
