  I like to come back to this documentary and it always strikes me how deluded she was. In her eyes she could do no wrong she still refused to see she was the problem. I like Ken Clarke's honesty.

  She was wrong about the Poll Tax but she was absolutely right on Europe and knew the ERM would end in disaster.

  I feel very strongly that she did lose touch with reality towards the end of her premiership and did make some poor choices, but the way in which she was forced to resign was inexcusable.

  Beware the fury of a patient man - Margaret Thatcher should have not ignored this phrase. Geoffrey Howe proved it.

  Margaret Thatcher here exhibits virtually every trait of malignant narcissism: extreme grandiosity, a dictatorial attitude towards others, lack of empathy, a tendency towards black and white thinking, rampant egotism, and perhaps most clearly: a record of elevating, devaluing and then discarding her closest confidantes. This is most obvious in her treatment of Howe and then latterly, how she denigrated and undermined John Major after elevating him as her likely successor.

  Given the fact that Margaret Thatcher was challenged twice for the Tory leadership as PM, I cannot understand how Theresa May has yet not had any !
