In 1973 I bought a 56' Ford Customline 4 dr 6 cyl 3 speed manual for $ 150 from the original owner who worked for Ford .Owned for 20 yrs. Still running ,sold it for $150 Best car I ever owned.

In 1951, at age 5, my 22 year old Aunt, bought a brand new, basic Ford for $1,650. It was essentially, the third & <br>last year of that styling & was beginning to show its age. Less than a year later, Ford's t.v. "commercials" announced<br>that it was 'scrapping' the proposed, next year's design & came out with the drastically changed "Mainline" model.<br>Even though my family had a one year old car, I really wished that we had held off, for the 'super modern" '52 Ford.

I would have bought the "Mainline"! It was just what I would drive! A simple car that got me from one place to another cheaply!
