There's a story about Jay Springsteen, a super-talented dirt tracker, who crashed so hard in practice that he bent the swingarm on his XR750 so badly that the rear wheel wasn't pointing in the same direction as the front. There wasn't time to replace it before his heat so he just said "F it.", went out and won his heat. (I may have some of the details wrong here, but yeah, a talented rider can work magic even on a messed up bike.)

Raced Millville with Jade a few times before the Dungey name was anything. Didn't think anything other than a super nice guy I BS'd with on the start line n then a year later figured out it was his little brother not him that Roger Decoster plucked from the B class. lol
