  I wanted to buy a new DR Horton house in Katy, Texas. They wanted me to use their inspectors. When I said i was going to use my own, that&apos;s when the attitudes came out. They would avoid my calls and totally ignore me. I walked away and bought an older, better built home and made improvements. Best decision I made!!

  My grandfather, dad and uncle owned a construction company from the 1940’s-2000’s. Their homes were built like fortresses. Rip Grandpa, Dad.

  There’s got to be a lemon law for new homes. The builders should have to buy them back with extensive issues like these. Not only buy the house back and give the buyer every penny they paid, but pay for their moving expenses as well.

  My cousin was a warrantee manager for DR Horton. He quit in disgust. He could no longer bear facing the homeowners. Quit for his own mental health.

  You know what’s amazing? The fact that these houses, that cost $400 to a million dollars give you a ONE YEAR WARRANTY!! Wait, so my car, that takes me everywhere, hitting pot holes and in weather, slamming on breaks and what-not, has at least 3 years?? But a stationary house has 1! What’s that saying about how they feel about the quality of their products and workmanship? Not too good!!!

  My friend, a former home inspector in Illinois, was told by a home builder that if he want to keep from getting &quot;put on a list&quot;, he&apos;d better get into shape and pass the inspections. He was really intimidated by the remarks he got and got out of home inspection all together. Nice to know he is working as a builder now. He does custom homes and is revered in the area.

  It&apos;s pathetic that we can&apos;t trust the craftsmanship of these builders even with all the inspections and permits required. &nbsp;Another industry we can&apos;t trust.

  The real tragedy is not that these buildings are crap, but that humans keep paving over farmland and beautiful open scenic lands to build this garbage. Secondary is that we accept garbage that is built to last only 40 years now.
