  Hand tuning a database is already a luxury craft. I get paid a lot to do it not because I&apos;m particularly good at it, but because my employers and clients don&apos;t have anyone who even knows where to start.

  This was a super fun office hours, Brent! &nbsp;I love the idea of unplugging on a cruise and taking time to think more deeply on something important.<br><br>On a side note, I literally retired today! &nbsp;So as I’m transitioning to what that new lifestyle will look like, I have unsubbed from a bunch of tech feeds and voices I’ve listened to over the years. &nbsp;Yours, however, was not among them.<br><br>Hope to bump into you on a cruise one day! &nbsp;Cheers.

  My advice if you haven’t jumped into AI more than half heartedly is to start using it and document everything when it does something correctly. Make sure it is captured in the agent memory and make it both a skill and a rule. BTW it will document everything for you if requested. Brent you need to build an MCP server or API knowledge base.

  This kinda expands on the schema question at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8yd4eVP63c&amp;t=1660">27:40</a>, but with people going to AI for information instead of Stack Overflow or other sources, I wonder how AI will continue to gather its knowledgebase. I&apos;ve been asking myself, why would someone post their solutions on a blog or forum if almost everybody who consumes it is doing so through an AI agent? I&apos;m sure some people will keep making their knowledge available regardless, but what would the motivation be for others, and how would we evaluate the quality of these solutions? Would people be willing to contribute if they know it will ultimately be repackaged and sold to AI companies?<br><br>Thank you for this special episode and enjoy your cruise!

  Code reviews have never had a central role in the wider industry. They should have a central role, but people get lazy when time pressures exceed the size of the change. And with AI&apos;s habit of randomly changing things unrelated to the task at hand, code reviews should get even more attention. But that&apos;s not going to happen. And instability is going to become the defining feature of software in the future.

  More and more, it’s going to be design work. &nbsp;Software development has never really been about writing code, index tuning, performance tuning etc. &nbsp;It’s always been about one way to solve business problems.<br><br>We dont write assembly or C much anymore. &nbsp;Soon we wont write C#, Java, or SQL Queries anymore.<br><br>There will always be a place for some software developers but it will become more and more niche since AI is only able to imitate, not fully create.

  First
