When asked for 'Currency Conversion' on an atm ANYWHERE in the world it should be answered with NO.

this lawyer from vietnam is the most articulate, logical, sensible youtube lawyer i have seen on this platform (youtube), the other putz( integrity legal) on youtube, my iq level dropped significantly listening to a garbled up nonsensical word salad all the while the lawyer had white foam at the mouth ( which made it even worse and harder to not stare at that grotesque stuff). all i am insinuating is tha this lawyer from hcmc is professional, straight fwd, and spot on. I hope to see more like him. cam on

From all your "philosophical" videos, this is the one with the actual best value and benefit for any tourist.
It should be shown on any and every airline before touching down.

This is a good video. It applies to all countries. Not just Vietnam. People should be shown this video when travelling for the first time.

Also, NEVER pay in dollars or sign a contract in dollars. Always insist on seeing the price in Việt Nam đồng (VNĐ). Vietnamese merchants will say that they are offering you the most convenient way to pay, and if you are absolutely clueless about foreign exchange rates and the value of individual currency bills, then it may be best for you to just go ahead and pay in dollars or another foreign currency. But their price in USD is NEVER as good as the VNĐ price.
Example: Here in Đà Nẵng--in the An Thượng tourist area--there is one woman with a food cart advertising "bánh mì only $1 USD!", which sounds nice and fair, but currently 1 USD = ₫26,342 VNĐ, and you can usually get that same Vietnamese sandwich for ₫15,000 VNĐ only a few streets away from the tourist area, near the fresh market. So when you "only" pay $1, you are either paying a terrible exchange rate, or, a highly inflated price for what turns out to be just an average bánh mì. One trick that hotels and motels will pull on you is to advertise in VNĐ, but then present you with a bill in USD when you check out, using their own personal exchange rate which is worse than an ATM. Always insist that they show you the price in VNĐ and that they charge your credit card in VNĐ (as previously mentioned by Ken)

I’ve made 8 trips to Vietnam in the last 2 years, and everything Ken has stated is right on target. Another thing I’ve learned is that not only does the condition of the denomination matter, so does the series year. I use Ha Tam Jewlery Shop in HCMC that Ken showed at 8:52 to exchange my money. This last trip they wouldn’t even exchange a few of my perfect condition $100 usd bills because the series was too old and they were the new $100 bill designs not the old ones. If you look at a $100 bill, the first letter of the serial number corresponds to series year. For example, a $100 bill with a serial number that starts with P is a 2017 series year, which I think is the latest series year for the $100 bill.
