"I generally don't like living in a world where being what a man is, it's a horrible thing, and no matter what a woman is, it's a wonderful thing." - Patrice O'Neal 💎

I met this man at the Miami Improv approximately 2 weeks before he died.  It was his last show ever in Miami.  He stood outside for a meet and greet and nobody really knew who he was.  I was one of very few people that stood there and spoke to him.  He was very attentive, very genuine, and very real. He appeared to be studying everyone he talked to.  I was on a date at the time and one of my biggest regrets in life was cutting our convo short and walking away from him once my date came back from the bathroom. I did not realize nor appreciate his greatness at the time. I was interested in closing the deal with the girl I was on the date with. In hindsight I wish I could have had a drink with him, picked his brain, laughed all night and formed a friendship even if it only lasted 2 weeks.  I think about this all the time.  The greatness comic I’ve ever met was right in front of me and I didn’t appreciate him.  I have so much regret from that night.

Rest in peace, Big Man. You're not missing anything, trust me. The beast is stronger than ever and the comedy scene worse than ever. I'm glad you aren't around to see this shit

If you ever have hundreds of hours to kill listen to all the Patrice episodes on O and A that this compilation is from. And listen to it in order. It's an amazing audio biography of Patrices career through the perspective of him and his friends being an ass on national radio
