  I worked for forty years. I was laid off five times. After the second time I decided to set some of my own rules. Every two weeks I would review my work performance. If I thought I over did it, I would pull back a little the next two weeks. If I thought I slacked off I would step it up a notch. <br><br>I&apos;ve seen slackers get fired and super stars get laid off. Don&apos;t kill yourself. Just do your job and hope for the best.

  I’m unemployed searching for a full time job. Pray I find one<br><br>Thank you everyone for the prayers. Did not realize so many people would see this! I have a job offer for a seasonal job, but it’s better than nothing:)

  What companies don&apos;t realize is that if nobody has a job, nobody will have the money to pay for their products and services, and they will see their profits severely drop. This is a sh*t show

  I remember as a teenager when company layoffs were considered a HUGE black mark on a company reputation. Executives were publicly shamed for mismanagement, often being forced out by board votes. It was a public embarrassment when a company had to fire their employees for no fault of their workers, but rather the company management. &nbsp;Today, executives do it on a quarterly basis as a business strategy, to bump their stock price and enrich their bonus/options programs. How times change.

  Was unemployed for 11 months and then got 2 part time jobs. Anyone who says we aren’t in a recession is kidding themselves

  As a recruiter in this job market it’s really sad since hiring managers are constantly asking why people have such large gaps in their resume and they don’t understand that people are getting laid off left and right right.

  Best advice that I got was from the guy that interviewed me during my first job out of college. &nbsp;He told me,”Never be loyal to a company because the company will never be loyal to you.”
