  OK, so I know I'm being a bit harsh on Ranger, but it's like when a teacher marks a star student down for not living up to their potential- it's good, but it could be so much better!

  I really love the idea of an elf wizard getting into archery like any other kid with rich parents would like horseback riding or fencing

  I can imagine a barbarian subclass where they wield siege crossbows and longbows designed for Large creatures. Weapons where simply being able to lift it is more important than fine hand-eye coordination

  I once made a sorcerer who used a bow for their spells. It was all flavor really. My cantrips and spells were just special arrows. Mechanically it didn&apos;t change the standard sorc but my back story was essentially I could not control my magic without using the bow to focus the magic

  eldritch knight is also a surprisingly good and flavorful option for archer fighters! like the valor bard, they get to replace their attacks with cantrips (and later spells) which not only encourages the true strike shenanigans but also allows fun flavoir like shooting spells from their bows! This point especially helps supplement the hole left by the very unfortunate loss of the arcane archer, in ways that I find to be very flavourful and fun! You can turn your quiver into a hawkey type deal that adjusts every arrow per shot! one arrow is flame tipped (fire bolt) while the next explodes in a radius of concussive force (shatter). Turn magic missile or scorching ray into a devastating flurry of arrows or even work in the infamous melf&apos;s acid arrow (i think thats on the wizard spell list) without sacrificing your whole action! You can even call your bow to your hand at any time which i love or have a melee weapon at your disposal if need be but the flavour of just materialising a bow out of thin air is just so cool. Then of course there&apos;s action surge which ,while no longer having the possibility of taking the magic action, &nbsp;allows you to repeat the attack action and re-utilise all the same attack cantrip or attack spell attack combos at higher levels!

  Small thing on the barbarian. Check out the oversized longbow. It&apos;s a ranged weapon that uses strength to attack

  It&apos;s fascinating to watch this guy ramble so expertly about tabletop gaming - which I could listen to anyone do all day - while he&apos;s doing difficult, athletic things. Definitely some kind of Elf!
