READ THIS BEFORE BLAMING THE HAWK PILOTS. The aircraft suffered an APU fire which burned through the control rods, by the time they ejected they had no control of the aircraft. A safe ejection needs a nose up attitude, so they took the oppertuntiy when the aircraft pitched up by itself before stalling. There were ground crew in an observation van next to the runway, whose responsibilty it is to monitor the outside of the aircraft (pins, flags etc) on the ground. There is no way the pilots could see the fire from the cockpit. If anyone is at fault it's the ground crew who didn't radio them to abort takeoff, as the fire started on the runway before they got moving.

@<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYY5CkdcfbU&t=389">6:29</a> You can see a bird in front of the rightmost engine just before the flameout. It's just a black dot at the timestamp, and it disappears just before apparently being sucked into the engine.
