The Doors pumped out two albums in 1967, so did Hendrix and the Beatles. Jefferson Airplane. What a crazy wonderful year for music.

"Light My Fire" was the subject of a censorship controversy. They performed it live on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1967, and the producers told them to change the line "girl, we couldn't get much higher", since the sponsors didn't like the allusion to drugs. They agreed to change it, but then Jim Morrison sang the original lyrics anyway. They were banned from returning as a result.

Don’t misconstrue the lyrics. Little girl is a reference to adult women in the blues tradition. Back door man meant he was coming in the back of the house, sneaking in while the husband was away. This also is an expression in traditional blues. So, nothing creepy. Maybe misogynistic but that’s part of blues history.
