Can you think of a more fitting film to win Best Sound at the Oscars than Sound of Metal? Because there isn't one!

The first act of this movie is terrifying.

I’d never think of how scary it would be to wake up one day and lose your sense of hearing

All of this could have been avoided by little earplugs

What a tragedy - first he loses his hearing, then he’s robbed at the Oscars.

It was already a great movie but having dated a deaf man it’s takes on a whole new meaning

Great film. Very moving especially if you have tinnitus/hearing loss. Protect your ears people for the love of them.

I lost the hearing in one of my ears a few years back, so this film was a hard watch (and listen 😜). Absolutely loved it though.

I know this is meant to be a sad scene, but there is something kind of funny about how the doctor is trying to be direct about the state of Ruben's hearing loss, but Ruben is not catching onto the fact that his deafness is permanent ("How do I get it back"), and the doctor finally becomes uncompromisingly forthright ("The hearing you have lost is NOT coming back")
