  I still want to know how people are making over $10k/mo. to afford $4 Grand/mo. rent. This countries economy has turned to total crap. 99% of people I know are earning $40-50k/yr. and can&apos;t afford groceries.

  I bought one of these. Got a house for basically 195k in a 400k neighborhood. It was disgusting though. We were Peeling dead rats off the floor, but the work coming along nicely almost done

  Michael is right about deferred maintenance on foreclosure properties. &nbsp;A homeowner not making the mortgage payment is also not paying for repairs. &nbsp;A friend of mine rented a room in a house that was eventually foreclosed upon, and he told me the house had both electrical and natural gas issues. &nbsp;Licensed electricians who came out to the house refused to do electrical work until the natural gas issues were fixed.

  I used to do foreclosure clean out and board ups. Any house in an area subject to freezing temperatures should be winterized to prevent freeze damaged plumbing. Most banks would not pay for winterization, so most houses in freezing weather areas will have freeze cracked leaking pipes. If buying a foreclosure in freeze areas, insist on a plumbing pressure test.

  Banks are not dumping foreclosures on a large scale yet, they are doing short sales and moving foreclsoures into cash only bidding auctions.

  What I feel is happening now is that people bought these overpriced homes based on a wage that is no longer supported in this economy which is going to cause them to go into foreclosure because they’re just aren’t that many jobs that are providing the wages needed to keep up with the mortgage payment

  Even foreclosures are OVERPRICED. The banks won&apos;t sell them unless they cover the outstanding loan amount.
