Don't forget there were two confirmed carnivorous Kangaroo species, too. One was named Ekaltadeta. It appeared about 25 million years ago and only died out around 50,000 years ago.

I'm not an Australian, however I do know that adult male kangaroos are colloquially called boomers from the sound their hops make.

Can you do an episode on skuas, the pirates of the sea? My daughter, an experienced Antarctica person, hates these birds! Ha!

I don’t know why, but idea of fossilized kangaroos is fantastically surreal to me :)

You guys are a riot together. Common descent is probably the only podcast I watch religiously. 🫶
I really appreciate the humor you bring while being incredibly informative all at the same time.
I always learn so many things and that's what I love.

I have a question about fossilized kangaroos.
If all marsupials had gone extinct a long time ago, it would be hard for us to know that they carried their young in pouches.
So, if we found a fossilized kangaroo with its young inside its pouch, might we conclude that kangaroos were not only carnivorous, but also cannibals?
What do you think?

(Man, I’m glad I don’t smoke pot.)
