I’ve read dr. Baden’s book on David and absolutely LOVED it. He’s one of my favorite scholars.

In regards to the two chapters that introduced David that are contradictory: if the authors goes through such pains to conceal or distort these stories why would they do so just two chapters apart? That would seem somewhat sloppy considering they're doing a really excellent job of concealing their intentions?

I would just LOVE to hear his take on the new "David" movie put out by Angel Studios. It would be incredibly amusing, but it would be like shooting fish in a barrel.

Maimonides 13 Principles of Judaism
The Torah was given by God to Moses.

In his famous Thirteen Principles of Faith, Maimonides taught that the entire Torah was revealed by God to Moses and that no part of it originated merely from human authorship.
He considered belief in the divine origin of the Torah to be a core requirement of Judaism.
The Torah is perfect and unchanging.
Maimonides argued that the commandments of the Torah are eternal and cannot be altered, replaced, or superseded.
This became a central doctrine of traditional Judaism.
The Torah has rational purposes.
In The Guide for the Perplexed, he maintained that God's commandments are not arbitrary. Even when humans do not fully understand them, they serve purposes such as promoting moral development, social order, or intellectual perfection.
Some biblical language is metaphorical.
Maimonides rejected the idea that God literally has a body or human characteristics.
When the Torah speaks of God's "hand," "anger," or "eyes," he understood these as metaphors adapted to human language.
The deeper meaning of the Torah includes philosophical truths.
He believed the Torah teaches not only law and ethics but also profound truths about God, creation, and human perfection.
However, he thought some of these deeper teachings should be approached carefully and were not always expressed openly in scripture.
A representative idea from Maimonides is that apparent conflicts between reason and a literal reading of the Torah should prompt deeper interpretation. He argued that because truth comes from God, genuine reason and genuine revelation cannot ultimately contradict one another.
His views had a lasting influence on both Jewish law and Jewish philosophy, though some of his philosophical interpretations were controversial among other medieval Jewish thinkers.
Maimonides lived more than 1000 years closer to the events at Mt. Sinai than Joel Baden. It makes a lot more sense to me to believe that his understanding of the origin of Torah is greater than Baden's, no disrespect intended to Baden.
