📕 We put the research on paper: THE SOG FILES — the documented history of MACV-SOG. Every claim sourced, every myth taken apart.
https://truevietnamdocs.com

Six files, standard + large-print editions. No music, no sound effects, no AI slop — just the record, at your pace. There's a free printable Loadout Card on the site too. No email wall, no catch.

And the standing challenge stays open: catch a factual claim in the book that fails its own source, and you get your money back plus your name in the corrections log of the next edition. You people are the sharpest fact-checkers on the internet — that's exactly why the offer exists.

I served 20 years in the Marine Corps and two infantry combat tours in Vietnam. The first tour as a machine gunner (0331) in 1965-66 and the second as a Platoon Commander (0369) of two separate Combined Action Platoons (CAP'S) in 1970-71. I retired after 20 years in the Corps and had a 30 year career as a California Police Officer ( Marin County). What I learned in the Marine Corps has served me all my life..
Tom Boyte Gunnery Sergeant, USMC, retired
Bronze Star, Purple Heart

In the Central Highlands the enemy was the NVA. You would see "trail watchers" who would hit a couple kids and then ran away. A Cherry NEVER walked point in the HERD. Hell, a Cherry could walk you into a basecamp. They walked in the middle of the platoon and were told to follow whoever was looking out for you. JOE RYAN A/3/503 PIR 173RD AIRBORNE

A Vet told me that when his plane landed the guys waiting on the ground applauded. But they didnt applaud the coming of the new guys, they applauded that the plane arrived that took them back home.

From my wartime experience, I know—unfortunately—that if a unit isn't cohesive and the members don't know each other inside out, it cannot be 100% effective in carrying out its mission.

During WW2, the average age of the combat soldier was 26. In Vietnam, it was 19.

As a veteran in the army (1966 - 1970), I never served in Viet Nam. My full respect is with all that did serve in that awful place. I would give you all the "Medal Of Honor" if I had my way. Bless you all.
