I'd rather hear your guys personal top tens in the system rather than MLB rankings. You guys have so much more insight into these guys. Maybe another show where you both pick your top 10s and compare lists, ascending order 10-1.

Sasaki, if posted next year would be 23. Being under 25 he would only be eligible for a minimum contract and under control team control for 6 years (as was Ohtani if we remember correctly). His years 1-3 would be very team friendly and 4-6, hitting arbitration would spike, but nowhere near free agency numbers. Ohtani made 30+ mil in year 6 of arbitration...... just sayin

Austin or Casey, how would you describe Gauthier's defense? It looks from Baseball Cube that Gauthier has good positional flexibility with significant time at SS, 3B, 2B, LF, RF. Do you see him being an above average major league defender at any position? If not what is his best position? Base running? Seems fast enough to steal some bases at the minor league level but not a burner?

I'm in favor of the Dodgers leaving a lane wide open for the rookies or younger, unestablished, guys but I think the team probably still needs one more veteran. Assuming the Dodgers have to cover 800-900 innings, here's what I think the totals look like:

Yoshinobu Yamamoto - 150 - might be conservative given Yamamoto has pitched 190IP + in 2 of last 3 years.
Tyler Glasnow - 120 - He might be healthy and ready to exceed but the Dodgers won't plan for that.
Bobby Miller - 150 - He pitched 140 or so combined last season.
Walker Buehler - 100 - a WAG on my part but think this is reasonable.
This established group projects to about 520 IP so that leaves another 280 IP to 330 IP for less established guys.

I think they will commit to giving Sheehan a long runway. The other guys on the 40 man are Stone, Frasso, Knack, Grove, and Hurt. Grove and Hurt might spend time in the bullpen this year. I think Grove can start but he might not get the opportunity until he gets traded to Toronto. The Dodgers have a lot of guys that need innings at the ML level but I'm not sure the Dodgers would actively plan to give in the neighborhood of 300 to any group of unproven guys. That makes me think they will get another experienced veteran arm, reducing that number to 200ish innings.

Why doesn’t these MLB clubs wise up and hire pitching coaches from Japan since they are developing great pitching

Glad, we are focusing on all the new shiny toys, while ignoring the fact that we may end up fielding the worst defensive team ever. As it sits we have the worst OF and 3b in MLB with Outman being the only exception, Mookie proving he has hip, or leg issues and Lux returning from knee reconstruction. This is "Moneyball" thinking roster and having some Star power doesn't win WS rings ask Billy Bean or go ask the Mets about it
