I don't think a lot of people fully get how strong, independent, discerning and intelligent Jewel is.
Her metaphor about hard wood in this interview is 100% true. She turned down 1 million dollars from her record label when she started cuz she wanted to carve her own path... Insane!
She's remarkable in so many ways and for the people who truly appreciate her, you can draw strength and inspiration from her.
Her songs are so meaningful, genuine and moving very much like poetry.

I sent Jewel an email LOOONNNG ago. When her first album hit stores. I absolutely adored her style, messages, voice, all of it. She replied and it was kind of her to notice or bother. I never had the chance to see her live, but I bought three of her albums on CD. Still just as good today. I think maybe "My Hands" is perhaps the most encapsulating of her vibe. My favorite one, too.

My husband won tickets on the radio to Jewels Anchorage AK Homecoming Concert. It was a quaint smaller venue. Maybe a couple hundred people in an auditorium setting. She was AMAZING all around. Plugged in an autistic guitar took audience requests sang & played and walked around. We were introduced to her mother who is talented as well. She was a lot of fun. Super friendly toward all her fans. Jewel's concert is in the top 5 of many years of concert going. ❤
