Spanish Gold Still Washes Up on This Florida Beach. Here's Why

That's a Spanish coin. It's three hundred years old. And it came out of the sand on a Florida beach. There's a stretch of this coast where that keeps happening. Coins, after storms. Sometimes gold. Eleven Spanish ships full of silver and gold went down out there in one night in 1715. More than a thousand of the roughly twenty-five hundred people aboard didn't make it to the beach. Pirates got some of the silver. A builder with a war-surplus mine detector got a lot more. And last summer, divers pulled another million dollars of it out of the shallows. That isn't the strange part. The strange part is that three of the ships have never been found. The dated, named finds of real size — the 2015 gold, the 2025 recovery — came from divers working the shallows, not from the sand. Where this video says "the gold is still coming up," that is delivered by those two documented finds and by the after-storm pattern, not by any single beach discovery this year. Welcome to Florida — every road leads to another story.
