Watching this feels heartbreaking. I admit, I still missed that baby-kiddie version of Christianity where it's "love thy neighbour as yourself", and "God loves you no matter what." Now watching this it feels like growing up and realising all the innocent facets about the religion weren't so innocent after all.<br><br>But still, thank you for the video. Unfortunately, sometimes learning can be painful.

Jesus said not to bother preparing for the future because he thought the apocalypse was going to happen right away. That obviously didn't happen, so Jesus' advice is not applicable. And that should make us wonder which other teachings of his aren't suited to a world that has stuck around 2000 years longer than the teacher expected it to.

What gets me is when Jesus praises the woman who gives the last of her money to the temple treasury. I would never encourage someone in poverty to give the last of their money to the church. I would tell them to take care of themselves and their family, and tell the CHURCH to give to them. This example has probably wrought so much harm on believers who are already struggling financially and yet feel they should trust god and give from the last of their money

You mentioned (in the thought crimes part) the idea of religious OCD. I grew up with a pretty fundamental type church and have suffered horrendous OCD/anxiety/depession since around age 11. It all got going with a religious dillemma dealing with "the unforgiveable sin". The thought crimes happened when I even thought of the issue and I was left facing eternity on fire. Fortunately, with a ton of critcal thinking, I escaped christianty around age 21. I wish you were around for me to listen to in those days! Keep doing what you're doing, it might save others from this mental harm..

I took that "don't worry about tomorrow" teaching exactly as it's written. Asking "where do you see yourself in 5 years?" felt sinful. Religion and Autism is a terrible combo
