A key difference is that the Swedish Prime Minister has much less personal power than the US President. He can’t just decide on his own to bomb some country in the Middle East and have the military do it. Swedish politics is much more dependent on parliament, parties and negotiated support.

Governing Sweden is largely based on the idea of consensus. 'You give some to get some'!

It's great to have a representative that's not political. That helps to keep the who's of politicians in check, which is VERY IMPORTANT.

One thing that I as a Swede takes huge pride in is that even with all these parties, when there is a crisis they discuss a plan and unite behind it to move almost as one. Covid, aid to Ukraine the NATO entry all unified decisions. What opposition can do is critizise is that not enough is being done or not fast enough but never the end goal. It's a culture thing.

That ment during covid I got a doctor (government apointed) with a lifetime of experience working with epidemics, in every media every day updating me on the spread of the epidemic and gave us citizens recommendations (not orders) on how to act to avoid getting sick and spread it. Most Swedes followed these advice even if we weren't forced to.

You got "maybe inject yourself with bleach" and "grown" men throwing tantrums about wearing masks... And then you elected him again. 😂

You don't choose your president. Your parties and your electoral college choose.

There are several parliamentary constitutional monarchies where the Prime Minister is the de facto leader, while the King/Queen is the technical head of state outside politics. In addition to Sweden, others include: Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Spain, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Bahamas, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Jamaica, PNG, etc. About 35 in all.

Yes, the Swedish king became king in 1973 (when he was 27), when his 90-year old grandfather Gustaf VI Adolf passed away.
His father, who should've inherited the throne, had died in a plane crash in 1947, when little Carl Gustaf were only 9 months old.

I think that most Swedes think he's pretty ok, he's a bit goofy, and doesn't come off as very royal, he often looks a bit lost, but I think he's a quite ok guy. Most Swedes like Crown Princess Victoria more, I think. She's had a royal presence, but is still down to Earth, and seems genuin and curious about people she meets.

I live in the Swedish county Värmland, close to the Norwegian border, and when the king visited the residential town Karlstad a few years ago, I actually got to see him only 20 metres away.
