The sequence involving the throwing of dead octopuses into the water so tourists can pretend they have caught them is PRICELESS. The comment it makes on consumerism is devastating and this combines with the beautiful and surreal underwater photography makes for a very satisfying video

As someone who's dealt with depression, it is touching seeing him begin this episode getting fed up by the sham fishing and having that feeling spiral into a depressive state for the entirety of his trip, ending with him going in to dark yet comical remarks about his mother and lack of grandmother figure. Incredibly relatable how sometimes the only light a depressed person can shine is to make comedy of his own tribulations.

Anthony clearly expressed his depression all throughout this episode which makes me feel sad. I've watched this and all other episodes previously but I never looked at it as depressive as it is when I'm watching it again now. Rest in peace, Anthony.

Hahaha I remember this episode. Staged fishing is sad, a lot of travel food shows do that though, since you can't guarantee success on the filming day. When Conan went to Italy for his show, the local guide did a fake truffle hunting too, and Conan mocked the sham truffle hunting onscreen.

I agree with Livin'- I cried when I saw the horrific scene with the octopus and heard his grief. I always wondered how such a talented, wonderful person could commit suicide but I felt his deep pain in this episode. Such a loss.
