  Funny enough, the event was so big that Blizzard canonized the plague into their game lore and they SORT OF brought it back for their first expansion pack in a new form that&apos;s not deadly

  For those who doesn&apos;t know, as i lived that event myself, starting to play WoW in 2004, the Blood Plage was a debuff that &quot;you needed to have&quot; because Hakkar had a skill wich drained blood from players in order to heal himself, and if &nbsp;you had the debuff, he will drain <b>poisonous blood</b> and will hurt him instead of healing him. That&apos;s why that debuff intended, it wasn&apos;t just another boss mechanic, and yeah, cities would lag some PC&apos;s just because of the sheer amount of bones and corpses...

  I remember the extra credits video about this I found just after lockdown started. It was made pre-covid and the narrator concluded with &quot;luckily something like this would never happen in real life.&quot;

  Theory about the intro: the free games aren’t aimed at established gamers, they’re meant to lure in new gamers who now have nothing “better” to do.
