What makes this story so remarkable is how quickly 47 Commando went from losing almost everything on the beach to rebuilding its fighting capability piece by piece. The image of exhausted Marines continuing inland with captured weapons, a borrowed radio, and an unchanged objective really captures the determination behind the operation. The whole story is a powerful reminder that equipment can be lost, but initiative and training can keep a unit moving. What moment stood out to you most?

I believe my Father landed on this beach he was in the 2nd. Batt.Devonshire Regiment, along with The Dorsets and Hampshire's who were formally The 231St. "The Malta Independent Brigade" and now in the Northumbrian Division! my understanding is The Dorsets went left and the Hampshire's right or Visa Versa and the Devons landed with the Para's; I wonder if this is the actual action or area My Dad was in on D-Day! My Dad never spoke of what he did on D-Day, or indeed what he did during the War; i've gleaned what "I think I know, from books etc.," fortunately Dad made it All the way through the War!
