  In about 1996, I remember the hardware store I worked at played this on the overhead MUZAK system. It made for a more pleasant working environment.

  I sometimes play this over my Dad’s store’s speaker system, usually in the evening to set the mood. Originally I played Muzak tracks but my Dad and his coworkers complain it sounds like “elevator music”, which really annoys me. But everyone in store likes this type.

  growing up, usually this stuff was not noticed much in stores. We heard it but it was considered boring and not worth actually listening to (paying attention). It was just kind of background sound that helped cover up peoples unpleasant noises and low voiced conversations.   But because things changed, and changed to be more stressful and anxious, little details in life that used to be overlooked become beacons that trigger pleasant memories.  Because the mundane things of the past are now triggers for feelings of a time of stability, calm, and peace of mind.  Also it reminds of when there were more reasons and places to get out of the house for.
