I saw Duran Duran there in 2008 and ended up winning a fan club meet and greet with the band. While waiting to meet them, I had the chance to explore this gorgeous building. I was behind the ropes and in areas the general public doesn't normally get to see. The architecture was stunning. So much marble, brass and other high end building materials were used in the construction. As a concert venue, the acoustics were extraordinary and it was just the right size to feel somewhat intimate. I don't believe that there was a bad seat in the house. It was an absolutely mind-blowing experience.

Edited: spelling be hard today

I first visited the Detroit Masonic Temple when my 4th grade class went there to see a performance of Cats. It was beautiful and left a lasting impression on me.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge on both the Detroit Masonic Temple and The Pontiac Grand. Both buildings are beautiful.I never been in either building even though I was raised in the Greater Detroit area. Hope to get that opportunity if I come back home for a vacation.

Chris, again another great video. Pontiac lodge is in Auburn Hills now in a house, but did bounce around from downtown to State street. I am a Freemason but my lodge closed down from the upper peninsula. I even worked at the ill-fated Menagerie lounge there, the opening night, but never went inside the old lodge.

The mason’s paid for my daddy’s funeral in 1956, when he had used his life insurance to buy our house. They took my brother and I to the circus for several years after. Grateful
